Tricks of the Trade

DIRECT INSTRUCTION

I've instructed nearly 1,000 students over the course of 5 years. During this time, I have taught seven different courses. I scaffold material to provide appropriate rigor, regularly assess student understanding and create logical accommodations to help students achieve optimal growth.

LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

I have extensive experience utilizing the following Learning Management Systems to improve instruction: Canvas, Schoology, Blackboard, PowerSchool, and Google Classroom

TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM

I gamify learning and accommodate student needs by utilizing technology in the classroom. Programs I use to improve student outcomes include Google Translate, Microsoft Suites, Google Docs/Slides/Sheets/Drive, Quizizz, iCivics, Quizlet and Youtube.

LEADERSHIP

I studied for my Masters degree in Education Policy and Leadership. During my time at American, I led several research projects to improve educational systems to promote equity. I have also led professional development seminars to improve academic English and student accommodations for English Language Learners.

QUALITATIVE AND QUANTATIVE RESEARCH

I have experience with STATA and Excel, as well as surveying and researching target populations to better understand community or school needs to create solutions for problems currently being faced. I've presented my findings to relevant stakeholders, conducted follow-up to assess project success and continue to contribute to my work by becoming and advocate and source of knowledge on the topic at hand.
